Over the last five years, the number of Americans who bleach their teeth has more than tripled. It has become one of the most popular measures to upgrade one’s looks.
Last month we were tipped about a dental presentation that was going to be made available online. We were told that it would unlock the secrets of the Hollywood smile, so we just couldn’t resist attending it. It was being held by dental experts from the clinic Aksla Tannhelse in Ålesund, Norway.
Originally, the presentation was meant for business students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Ålesund, given the high interest they have for advice that might further their careers and entrepreneurial adventures. Below, we’re going to tell you about some of the best things we learned:
Bleaching
As mentioned in the introduction, bleaching is one of the most used strategies for getting whiter teeth. In their presentation, the dentists at Aksla confirm that it’s a safe process, and can be done at home or at the clinic.
Since they offer bleaching services themselves and suggest it as a useful tool for upgrading one’s smile, we wanted to see some reviews of their clinic, particularly on the subject of whiter teeth. Here is one I found on their website:

This client is saying that she is very happy about the teeth whitening she got from the clinic. It gives her the much-longed-for Hollywood smile. The treatment was also quite convenient, as she could do it at home.
Toothpaste
It’s true that there are certain kinds of toothpaste that are able to bleach the teeth. The downside is that they have a limited effect, given that producers are allowed to use just a small amount of bleaching. This is because the substance is corrosive, and might hurt our mucous membrane if it’s ingested in too large amounts.
The upside is that some of the brands contain substances that reflect light more effectively, which in turn makes the teeth shinier. This might not be a magical pill to getting the Hollywood smile, but it can help people who have already bleached their teeth with maintaining the color.
Professional teeth cleaning
Lots of people go to their dentist to check up on their teeth once every year or two. The dentist isn’t obligated to make our teeth whiter, but if you ask, they might help you brush away the miscoloring – as long as it’s on the surface of your enamel and not inside. You can also schedule professional teeth cleaning and be done with that, instead of having a traditional checkup on your cavities and all.
